We also offer longer loan periods for general use at home, hospitals, social events, and holidays at a small weekly charge.
About Harrow Shopmobility
The concept of Shopmobility originated in the 1970’s. There are now over 350 schemes nationwide, each are independent, self-funding and run as a registered charity. Some are funded by local authorities or a commercial organisation.
Our co-founder Mrs Vera Murrey-Fowler was on holiday in Wales in 1993 when she first witnessed a Shopmobility Scheme. On her return, Vera set about gaining interest in setting up a Shopmobility for Harrow. Independent Counsellor and charity campaigner Mr Neville Hughes, championed the cause with the local council. Mrs Ann Scotter worked with Vera to secure premises, first in St. Ann’s Shopping Centre and then in the newly built St. George’s Shopping Centre.
